How your transport price is calculated

The calculator uses the same pricing logic we use for your binding quote — there are no hidden items. The price consists of three building blocks: the base price for your instrument (from € 90,- for an e-piano up to € 420,- and up for a concert grand), the floor surcharge for storeys without an elevator at both the pickup and delivery address, and the distance charge of € 1.44 per kilometre for legs outside Vienna (outbound and return).

Two surcharges may apply: express jobs with a preferred date within three days, and transports on weekends, public holidays or after 9 p.m., are each charged at +50% of the subtotal. All prices include 20% VAT.

What affects the cost of a piano transport?

• Instrument type and size: an upright piano weighs 200–300 kg, a concert grand up to 500 kg and must be partially disassembled before transport — effort and team size differ accordingly.
• Floors and elevator: every storey without an elevator is charged per floor (€ 12,- to € 72,- depending on the instrument) — at both addresses. A sufficiently large elevator removes this cost factor.
• Distance: within Vienna, travel is included in the base price. Outside, we charge € 1.44 per kilometre per direction — a move to St. Pölten therefore costs more than one inside the city.
• Timing: standard appointments (4+ days ahead, weekdays until 9 p.m.) are the most economical. Express, weekend and holiday slots each add +50%.
• Special cases: narrow spiral staircases, balcony or window access may require a crane transport — quoted individually after a site survey and not part of the online calculator.
